crawl of crawl walk run form 'coasting'

this form is called 'coasting'
  1. Skates are on.
  2. You are sitting in a chair.
  3. The second chair is on firm smooth surface in front of you.
  4. While holding the second chair your feet are one in front and the other is behind, like a human bicycle , stand up very slowly keeping your center between your feet.
  5. When up just be still and feel what it is like to be a human bicycle.
  6. Slowly bring the rear foot forward half way towards the front foot and then let it go back to its previous rear position, do this slowly several times.
  7. Slowly sit down and reverse feet positions and repeat 2 thru 6.
you are now doing the 'coasting' form. Later you will use the 'coasting' form for gliding between pushes and going down hills and applying the heel brake.

skates and poles you will need

  1. You will need to modify a pair of inline skates. Cut off the extra wheels. Make sure that the remaining wheel is under the ball of the foot i.e. 1/3 from the toe 2/3 from the heel.Save extra wheels and bearings for spares later.
  2. Poles that are as high as your belt. Adjustable hiking poles are a good choice.
  3. Heel brake you will need later.
  4. A chair with a back that is as high as your belt.
